Mariah Carey night.  <sarcasm>Great</sarcasm>. 

David Archuleta singing When You Believe.  What's weird is I just saw Prince of Egypt this weekend (this song is from that movie).  It's a good song.  He's doing his typical thing.  I'm just not into his voice.  It sounds dull, there's no shine to it.  I mean, he sounds fine, but there's no sparkle to it.  It was okay.  Grade B

Carly singing Without You.  She sounds pretty good low. She at least switched to her higher register without totally screwing up.  But it just doesn't sound perfect up there.  She usually pinches her higher notes.  This was the first time I wasn't totally cringing at the top note.  Not bad.  Don't know what's up with the judges, she's crap in previous weeks and they praise her, she finally does decently and they don't like it.  Weird.  Grade B

Syesha singing Vanishing.  Let's see if she can actually connect emotionally this week.  She sings fine, but man, I'm so bored.  The end, she just sung a bunch of runs.  Boring.  Grade B

Brooke singing Hero.  I really hate any song that uses the word "Hero".  It just sounds lame.  Her pitch is off.  This song isn't connecting all that well.  She's just keeping it simple with just the piano.  I would have brought strings and more singers.  It was kinda messy, kinda boring.  Grade C (Julia told me to give her a C-)

Kristy Lee Cook singing Forever.  Watch, she's going to do well.  She sounds pretty good low.  Her tone is really nice.  Hey, thins is really nice.  Her mid range sounds good and her higher notes are solid.  She has absolutely no problem switching her ranges.  Wow. That was great.  Comeback kid!  Grade B+

David Cook singing something.  He sounds like generic rocker trying to be all emotional.  Boy this is a really lame song. I guess he's doing okay.  It was just not a good song, arrangement, anything.  Uh, Randy just said it was the best performance of the season.  What?  Grade B

Jason Castro.  This guy is so likeable.  He's got a good falsetto.  His voice is just so nice.  This is a good song for him.  Good arrangement.  This is really good.  He makes an emotional connection with the song and the audience.  That was good.  Grade B+
