Why did God create marriage? God created marriage as a way to create a people of worship unto him. Marriage means union. Marriage is the primary means whereby the filling of the earth can take place. The Bible reads, "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh (Gen. 2:24)." Creating a union between the two, in a marriage, guards both husband and wife along with their children. We can see the effects of taking marriage lightly in our society today. Adultery, divorce, promiscuity, breaking up of families all lead to unhappiness. That is because God's order is being replaced. And how can something perfect be made better? Anything other than God's perfect way of marriage will be imperfect.
If marriage is a God ordained institution, we can easily see the importance God places on a working marriage. Marriage is never to be treated lightly. If there are problems in a marriage, those problems should be worked out and never abandoned. Marriage is not the primary means where we find happiness. Many times marriages break up because one or both people are unhappy. We find happiness not in the marriage itself but rather in 'why' marriage was created. Trying to find happiness only in the marriage, takes God's plan and purpose out of the picture and of course will lead to an unfulfilling and empty marriage.
Marriage does not only create more worshippers but is the primary means where the offspring, learn and grow in worship. Parents are supposed to teach their children about God's characteristics and all that he has done. Children should honor their parents and learn what it means to worship God.
Why did God create Marriage? To create and nurture a people for worship.

Scripture ReferencesGen 2:[18] The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."
[19] Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. [20] So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field.
But for Adam no suitable helper was found. [21] So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. [22] Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
[23] The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called `woman,' for she was taken out of man." [24] For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
Eph 5:[31] "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." [32] This is a profound mystery--but I am talking about Christ and the church. [33] However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
6:[1] Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. [2] "Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise-- [3] "that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."
