In the battle between East Coast and West Coast hardcore, East Coast will always prevail. I have always found that the originality pool is very shallow on the West and if a band does find it's own sounds, it's usually heavily influenced from what someone else did on the East. There are always exceptions to the rule though. Champion, Chain Of Strength, Stay Gold, Insted and 7 Seconds are some of the few. The San Franscico straight edge outfit, Allegiance is taking their stand to come up to the level of those great bands. I wouldn't say that they deepened the originality pool or have added anything new to the scene but they do what they do and it's solid. This is for fans of Right Brigade, Floorpunch, No Warning and Madball. It's not going to blow anyone away but it a fun time all the way. I got to see them play once, and they did a great job so I think would even be better now that I know their songs. Fast paced, aggressive and angry, the way hardcore was meant to be.
