It would be very easy to classify Anadivine as another screamo band clinging tightly to the coat tails of Thrice and Thursday. This so-called genre has been saturated with the same monotonous bands as of late.
But, the best way to describe Anadivine’s sound, would be the pop aspects of Taking Back Sunday with a twist of From Autumn To Ashes. So what is it that separates them from the rest of the bunch?
Not a whole lot, and that’s the biggest problem I have with this album. It's not a bad listen, and some of the songs are extremely catchy--but it just gets boring after a while.
In 'The Stalker and The Songwriter', Sean Paul Pillsworth sings, 'the pain kicks in cause the pain pills wore off and there’s no medication I can find strong enough to replace my spine and destroy my mind'. This song basically showcases the content of the album which is centered around lost love, obsession, murder, drugs and of course the occasional stalking of a former love interest.
This E.P. has plenty of hooks to pull the listener in, and not too mention interesting and introspective lyrics. Anadivine toys with several ideas on the record but it appears that they are still searching for their sound. Perhaps they will find it. Look for the debut on The Militia Group this summer.
