Decahedron is for people who take their rock hard-edged and political. If you’re a fan of Frodus or Fugazi then you will probably be a fan of Decahedron. Actually, if you’re a fan of Frodus or Fugazi you are in a sense already a fan of Decahedron. Each of the band’s three members have played in one of those two celebrated groups, and the music they make together is pretty much a straight up mixture of their former musical outlets.
Disconnection Imminent is full of hollered vocals over razor-sharp guitars and ferocious, pounding drums. The album as a whole is nice and edgy. The kind that will leave your voice embarrassingly raw from screaming along while driving down Main in your ’90 Honda Civic. But if you’re not much of a screamer don’t worry... your mom isn’t going to hate every song on the album. A few of the tracks like “Every City is a Prison,” and “At the Corner of Schuylkill and Wyaconda” are built around ultra-smooth bass lines, slow but dynamic builds, and even include a little singing here and there. Overall Disconnection Imminent is a pretty respectable debut for Decahedron. And with the addition of Johnathon Ford (Roadside Monument, Unwed Sailor) on bass after the recording was completed it should be interesting to see where the band goes from here.
