Holy Roman Empire is a bit of an enigma. They’re a female fronted rock band with members from hardcore bands. This may not sound so odd at first, but when the members are from such a numerous amount, being at one point attached to The Hope Conspiracy, Suicide File, Arma Angelus, Shai Hulud, Rise Against, The Killing Tree, Sweet Cobra and Stabbed By Words. How this band got together may make one scratch their head in wonder, they are still worth a listen.
Obviously, HRE is a side project of sorts, but could easily be fooled as a real deal band, with enjoyable songs and a great front-woman. While the vocals are enjoyable enough, they make or break the band for most since they are the main focus in the melodies of every song. This should only deter a minority of listeners though, as HRE’s alternative rock sound is at the least comparable to better known band in their genre.
Lost In Landscapes is a nice short listen. As an EP it isn’t nearly as good as it could have been, although good for an EP. Considering the musicians involved, it’s not the greatness that one might expect, but is enjoyable.
