I’m probably one of the worst choices to review an album like this. I am a huge hardcore fan but I am very specific when it comes to the different styles of hardcore that I like. I hate metal core unless it’s going to blow me away. If it’s generic and run of the mill ordinary, don’t give it to me because I’ll tear it apart. I also hate tough guy chugga chugga hardcore. This is again another style of hardcore that has to blow me away for me to like it. As in both styles there are only a few select bands that I will hold on to. Both styles mostly just bore me. They both lack fun. Sing a longs are few and far between and either the mosh parts are just too complex or smothered in bass. I also like to understand what the band is singing about without looking at the lyric sheet. California’s (like 90% of all California bands) Hoods is just one of those bands that I would rather just pass on. It’s nothing against them really. They are veterans of the hardcore scene. I think their music is just rather boring and lacks anything special. I picture myself as being extremely bored at seeing them live and that is a major test I put all bands through. I love getting in the pit and I love singing along but they would be my pizza band.
Pizza Band- The band at the show that a lot people leave during their set to go get something to eat (preferably pizza).
If you are a fan of bands like Madball, Hatebreed, xdisciplexad and 25 Ta Life, you would probably like this band. If you are not, like I am not, you would rather stick with Champion, Gorilla Biscuits, 7 Seconds and Slapshot.
