I have been a Kill Your Idols fan for years. I've seen them so many times that it's hard to remember where and when the shows all happened. They are also pretty popular for being consistently late and/or canceling or just not showing up to the shows they were supposed to play, but it's all cool. They are also a great live band. They do an amazing job of transferring their sound and energy from the studio right to the stage. They also are one of those few bands that bridge the gap between hardcore kids and punk rockers. It's always a fun time to see them because you know that everyone is going to get along and it's just going to be a great time. You're going to see kids with their BOLD t-shirts and pit moves and then see the punk rocker with his crass shirt and his circle pit. It's an amazing thing to be a part of.
On July 30th, 2000, Kill Your Idols played their first headlining show at CBGB's. They took the stage with The Nerve Agents, Inhuman, American Nightmare and Damage. I know this because I was supposed to go to this show. I don't recall why I didn't go to this show. I had no idea that it would be a recorded live show or else I would have been there no matter what.
As far as live recordings go, this album was put out by a very small punk label, so don't expect the most amazing live recording you have ever heard. It's not bad for what it is. It's pretty solid and the song selection was pretty decent as well. If you are a KYI fan, this is a must have. If you are not, just like most other bands you aren't a fan of, why would you want to own a live album of a band you don't know or don't like. It's a tough sell. All I can say is get some of their earlier stuff and then if you like it, jam out with the live album and wish you were there.
