I was sitting in Perkins eating some eggs benedict when I finally figured out how to write this review and why this cd was just not clicking with me...A bottle of Heinz Ketchup had the wise words "Excellence is to do an ordinary thing in an extraordinary fashion."
Unfortunately, this cd didn't stand out as anything extraordinary from the ordinary of today's metal hardcore scene. They have all the goods, the screams, the "chugga chugga we we we", decent recording, and mosh-worthy tempo and rhythms. But they just didn't do anything to stand out.
The cover of the cd kind of set me off in the wrong direction with the blood and cutting and hearts and whatnot. But I had to give it a chance. There were a few bright moments musically on Realisation to Move On and Not From This Soil, but I kind of got lost in the mix of the songs as nothing really stood out.
I appreciated their lyrical boldness, and if you're hardcore, the music may move you too.
