Never Heard Of It plays a completely original style of power pop punk. You have never heard anything like this before. The songs are well written, the lyrics are really deep and meaningful, and the maturity that the band shows through their songwriting is admirable. 11 Days is a fantastic record that elevates Never Heard Of It high above the other bands in this genre.
Now, take the opposite of everything I just said and you will have a good idea of exactly what Never Heard Of It (aka NHOI) has to offer. Now I'm not going to lie to you, these guys do work very hard. They are a completely independent band that has done seven national tours in two years, toured in the UK, started their own label, and sold over 55,000 Cds. Unfortunately, hard work really has no bearing on a band's overall sounds, and these guys sound exactly like all the other manufactured Good Charlotte-esque pop-punk bands out there. The songs are all basically written to the same verse-chorus-verse type formula, which makes this album, start to drag fifteen minutes into the disc. The guitars on the album are very predictable, and the lyrics are incredibly shallow and sound like a self-loathing junior high emo band wrote them. There is also a hidden track, which is basically the band trying to be funny by talking/rapping about 'the Governator' and the human anatomy on a background of homemade techno- it's really not worth your time to listen to it. Fans of the radio pop-punk genre may enjoy this album, but it really has nothing to offer but cliché lyrics, simple song structures, and a few cheap laughs.
