Small Towns Burn A Little Slower sound like another pop punk band with some emo influences… strike that, no… their just a pop punk band that adds some more pop to their sound than most pop punk. Just because every other review will say they’re emo doesn’t mean it’s true.
Sorry about that… back to the review:
Small Towns’ Mortality As Home Entertainment isn’t original (I see a theme in this latest batch of my reviews…), but they do play punk rock in a more or less fun way. Mortality is better than most pop punk simply because it isn’t a bore to listen to the album. It’s worth a few listens and that’s saying something anymore. Plus the hidden electronica song is amazing, and leads one to wonder why they don't just make electronica music instead of pop punk.
The vocals on the album leave a little to be desired, but at least are in tune. The overall sound is decent and I suppose it will be an enjoyable listen to many, but Mortality won’t stand the test of time and doesn’t require many listens or inspire them.
