While I was at this years Cornerstone Festival, I had a few people tell me that I should go check out this hardcore band called Ten 33. I really didn't want to waste my time seeing a band that would probably just turn out to be a run of the mill metalcore bands so I didn't go. I seriously regret that decision. Ten 33 plays the style of hardcore that I love. It's old school with new school flare and it's anything but metal. Their sounds brings me to ponder their influences. I hear Youth Of Today, Judge, Gorilla Biscuits and Slapshot with a mix of Comeback Kid and Allegiance. Totally solid. I don't know if they want to be label as a "Christian" hardcore band but they are like anything I have ever heard in the Christian hardcore scene. They actually have it. Not since the days of Focused and Strongarm (no disrespect to NIV but I include them in that time period) have I heard a band like this have it. They don't play bad metalcore and they don't go overly brutal with their style. As far as their lyrics go, they are really heart felt and honest and I admire that above everything else. They aren't ashamed of their faith but they aren't going to ram it down your throat. There is a hidden track on this album that is absolutely hilarious. I really want to get an interview with these guys. They didn't climb onto some stupid trend and they really don't sound like anything I've heard before but that's not to say it's 100% original but what is today? This is grade A stuff.
