Always Moving, Never Stopping is the debut record for the Los Angelos band, The City Drive. With an energetic pop punk sound that is self described as "Between the upbeat vitality of The All American Rejects and the fast-paced cynicism of Green Day." While that comparison is fair, I think The City Drive is a lot less pretentious sounding than either band and is a lot more fun than both, kind of like Relient K without as many pop culture references.
The City Drive has a variety of good songs that range from the snotty fun of opening track “Defeated” to the fragility of "Light Years." "Over and Done" is probably the only song that really sounds a lot like Green Day, mostly cause the vocals sound like Billie Joe on it at times. "Over and Done" and "Give Up Love" are other great songs on the album that rock even in the mist of their slower tempo.
The City Drive’s catchy pop punk is so easy to sing along with that one forgets that the songs have such simple lyrics or that they sound the same. Further listens to their material make Always Moving, Never Stopping a little less enjoyable, but overall the album is still very good and fun. If you’re a fan of any of the aforementioned bands, this is a great CD for you.
