The Cure have reunited with guitarist Porl Thompson.

Thompson last played in the band for a decade from 1983 to 1993 - the band's greatest creative epoch which included the perfect Disintegration but also included the less-than perfect Wish, released in 1992.

The announcement came in the middle of a busy month for the black cat lovers. They will close the Paris Live 8 concert. It was announced earlier that two members were leaving the band; guitarist Perry Bamonte and keyboardist Roger O'Donnell.
