The letter “z” in Lordz should be your first clue that this record is one of which you should steer clear. Other notably misspelled band names: Korn, Staind, Linkin Park, and the king of them all, Limp Bizkit. And like brothers from different mothers, Lordz fit right in.
Lordz perform the worst kind of cliché-riddled, formulaic rap-rock. It’s not of the aggressive sort like their brother-in-rap-rock Fred Durst, but it’s just as cluelessly hopeful in its completely serious delivery. How this record was picked up by a major record label is beyond comprehension. (One would suspect that guest spots from Everlast and Rancid's Tim Armstrong had something to do with that.) Admittedly, one or two tracks are mildly catchy and threaten to get stuck in your head, but somehow the brain’s natural defense systems obliterate all but the bitter aftertaste of the Lordz after the disc is ejected.
If you like misguided attempts at genre-crossing, maybe the Lordz is right up your alley. Otherwise, you’d be better off sitting alone in silence than putting yourself through the pain of The Brooklyn Way.
