Travis Morrison seems like he barely even tried on this album. At least I hope he wasn’t trying. At parts the songs feel thrown together at the last minute, and the lyrics are some of the most abysmal I have ever heard. This is all a real shame especially coming from the former frontman of indie superstars The Dismemberment Plan. Although a pretty bad album in its own right, it is just kind of rubbing it in because of Morrison’s roots.
The parts of the album that really got to me above and beyond the mediocre songwriting were the lyrics and the goofy additions between songs. Lyrics such as “People Die, It's the facts, So there, I said it, Now you can relax, People die, La de da” just cannot be forgiven. The stuff he throws in between tracks has no purpose I can find, it is just gratingly annoying.
There are a few catchy parts in the album, but I can’t really suggest slogging through the rest of the fetid swamp to find them.
