I saw the video of their single, "Way Away" and thought this band wasn't that bad. Then I found out that Capitol sent us their record. Cool for me. So get this. This record is actually pretty good. It’s pop-punk but not completely clichéd. Nothing groundbreaking, but very solid. Good songs, nothing annoying and there is variety. And really there’s only one bad song on the whole record. They have a violinist in the band, which is different, so it takes the place of keyboards bands so love nowadays. Vocals aren’t super strong or anything, but they’re not bad either.
Lyrically it’s fine. Not typical mall-punk. They actually have a song where they don’t complain about their dad, but rather want to grow up to be like him. The production is great, it being a major label release. Yeah, vocals are a little loud, but what do you expect from a major?
The best compliment I can give it is that I actually enjoyed listening to it. So put away your mall-punk CDs and get something that is actually decent.
