Mission to Mangyans of Mindoro
Fifteen K4 (Youth) leaders and six Deborahs from the Community of Life, Miracle Ministries Int'l and Jesus Christ King of kings and Lord of lords churches went on a 5-day mission to the Mangyans (the natives of the island of Mindoro) of Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro, April 29 to May 2, 2008 . The group was led by Ptr. Rolly Ybamit, Lambat Missions Director.
The Deborahs of the mission team taught the Mangyan women about God's goodness using Lambat's primary level materials. Angie Valentino and Renz Mark Dimaano led in teaching the children about the Sovereign God who created the universe. The children enjoyed coloring their activity sheets. Lack of available crayons was not a hindrance for them to finish their activities. They broke the crayons into halves so each one had something to use.
The youth went door-to-door to share the Gospel. It turned out to be a learning experience for them. They interacted with the natives to know more about their culture and traditions. They likewise had a film showing followed by a message from K4 Raymark Ballais, who was very thankful for his new experience in serving the Lord. The youth also had a grand time giving baths, shampooing hairs, cutting fingernails and teaching the Mangyan children about proper hygeine.
The men and women of the team did community service by cutting hairs and shaving beards. With the mission team is a vacationing beautician from the USA, Adia Tuller. She said, I can only do two haircuts a day because I can no longer stand for a long time. But praise the Lord; during the mission, she was able to do 50 haircuts in four days.
Local participating pastors thanked the mission group commenting that Lambat is a big help to their work. This mission exposure gave much joy and fulfillment to the lives of our K4s and Deborahs.
We praise God for instilling in our hearts the desire to serve the indigenous tribe of Occidental Mindoro. Thank you for your prayers and support. Ptr. Rolly Ybamit, Mission Director
